FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a single-speed mtb tensioner?

A mechanism which is attached to the bicycle frame via its hanger. The single speed tensioner adds force to the chain, keeping the chain tight on the rear drive cog and the front chainring. It is a tougher, and more robust alternative to running a derailleur when focusing on aggressive freeriding.

Can the GRAZR Zone Pro be used on a full suspension mountain bike?

Yes, the Zone Pro works great on full suspension bikes! It also works well on hard tails with non-sliding dropouts.

What bikes is the Zone Pro Single-Speed tensioner compatible with?

The GRAZR Zone Pro is compatible with all modern mountain bikes which run a traditional derailleur mounted system. The Zone Pro is not compatible with belt drive mountain bikes.

Is the Zone Pro suitable for downhill, freeriding and bike park?

Yes absolutely - that’s what the Zone Pro was designed for. The Zone Pro has had countless hours being tested right here in the Whistler bike park.

What makes the GRAZR Zone Pro different from other single speed chain tensioners?

GRAZR Components focuses on serviceability and reliability. The GRAZR Zone Pro is completely serviceable and repairable, making it the obvious choice for aggressive freeriding and bike park shredders. Not only is it serviceable, but it is the only single - speed chain tensioner which has definable clicks of clutch adjustment.

What chains are compatible with the GRAZR Zone Pro?

The GRAZR Zone Pro is compatible with 10, 11 and 12 speed chains. It is not compatible with half link chains, as the jockey wheels are too narrow and the chain will not fit through the tensioner cages. If you are considering using the Zone Pro with the Cogfather, we would recommend using a 12 speed non T-type chain and a narrow wide chainring.

What size of rear cog is compatible with the GRAZR Zone Pro?

The GRAZR Zone pro is compatible with 12-18t rear cogs, allowing for gear ratios suitable for everyone.

Will the Zone Pro work with my chainline?

Yes the Zone pro has got 19mm of chainline adjustment, making it tune-able for all mountain bikes. Simply loosen the pinch bolt, and slide the barrel in the clamp until it lines up with the cog (more information can be found in the GRAZR Zone Pro installation instructions).

Will the Zone Pro work with UDH?

Yes the GRAZR Zone Pro will work with UDH equipped bikes. In fact you could even use our Aegis Plates in order to reduce the chance of bending your hanger,  in order to make your setup even more bomb proof.

What does the adjustable clutch actually do?

The clutch adjustment works a bit like your compression damper on your fork. Adding clicks to the clutch does not increase tension on the chain, but will add more damping to the chain when riding over rough terrain or stomping big drops. This will make the chain less likely to slap your chainstay, reducing the overall noise from your drivetrain and keeping your chain secure on your front chainring.
